2) Stillness and quietness

"I will stand at my watch (or guardpost)"

Habakkuk knew that to hear God's quiet, inner, spontaneous voice, he had to first go to a quiet place and still his own thoughts and emotions. Psalm 46:10 encourages us to be still, and know that He is God.

Silence your soul, be slow to speak, listen "Be still, and know that I am God" (PSA 46:10)
